Dana returned home as a hero to the community but not to Frank’s widow, who is the number one suspect in Dana’s disappearance. Meanwhile, Scotty pays a visit to his brother in regards to an ongoing child molestation investigation.

Maybe it was because of his attempt to unionize his fellow miners or his public affair that didn’t sit well with the locals. There was a long list of suspects, including the owner of the mining company who wanted to stop the impending strike, and a fellow sandhog who wanted nothing to do with fighting for anyone’s rights. Meanwhile, Joseph tells Lilly he loves her.

First, Lilly gets Lee to admit to not wanting a second child. Then Christa admits to feeling stressed out with the demands of a new baby, along with being a working mother. Their older child, Devon, who was only 6-years-old at the time of his sister’s death, barely remembers what happened that night, but somehow believes that he had something to do with his sister’s death. Meanwhile, Ray enters Lilly’s life again.

The list of suspects include his ex-wife who inherited his estate, a young kid who starved for his attention and a father who believed that “The Hawk” got his young daughter pregnant. Meanwhile, Scotty attempts to reach out to his estranged brotheragain.

| Detective Jeffries’ rookie murder case in 1979 is re-opened when evidence is found close to where the body of the woman was originally located.Jeffries made a promise to the victim’s daughter, Helen, to find her mother’s killer and now, armed with new evidence, he is more determined than ever to close the case and bring the murderer to justice. The evidence includes a jacket belonging to the victim and car keys that could not have been hers because she did not know how to drive. The list of suspects includes the victim’s husband, ex-lover and daughter. Now, Jeffries will go back 27 years and retrace his steps, but as a more experienced detective.

| When a mailman is found dead in his home, several bags of undelivered mail are discovered, including a letter postmarked 31 years ago and is now a major piece of evidence in the 1975 case involving a missing girl.Lilly and the detectives learn that the missing girl, Melanie, was abducted from her bedroom window and her best friend’s, Cherise, brother was the number one suspect. The case takes shape when postal workers from 1975 admit that they would not deliver mail to the Black families in the neighborhood and did not like the friendship between Melanie and Cherise. In 1975, racial discrimination made everyone a suspect and now Lilly and the team must find out what really happened to Melanie.

Lilly discovers that, once united, this unlikely couple left a trail of bodies behind them and that the woman, whose romance novel notions of love blinded her to her paramour’s evil ways, may not have been as innocent as she seemed.

The victim, Truck, was caught between women from two very different worlds, one Southern, one Northern, which leads the detectives through a tangled web of love, destruction, booze and good old country music. At first, Lilly and Scotty believe it was a lover’s triangle gone bad, however, they soon find out it had nothing to do with love and everything to do with the music.
