• I thought this was another good episode of Cold Case. Even though the cold case was only one year old (usually not my favorite eps), this one was still pretty decent.

• This wasn’t the first primetime procedural to use the rite of rumspringa (aka “Amish gone wild”) as the central plot point, but Cold Case did it pretty well. Kudos to all of the young actors who were able to portray the situation so realistically and emotionally.

• All the stuff with Nick Vera (Jeremy Ratchford) “going native” with the Amish was great. Those were some nice, subtle character moments for the guy.

• There wasn’t much development on IAD’s investigation of Scotty, but we did learn from Stillman that Scotty’s screw up is common knowledge among department brass; and that Stillman wasn’t the source of that info. Scotty was not expecting that info. (Part of me wonders if the leak is ADA Thomas (Bonnie Root), Scotty’s maybe-love-interest, whom we haven’t seen since last season’s finale.)

• Pretty decent music in this episode as well, even though it was mainly recent Top 40: Augustana, KT Tunstall (twice), Natasha Bedingfield, and Kelly Clarkson.

• I thought it was a nice touch that the victim’s sister saw the “ghost/memory” figment of the victim at the end of the episode, as opposed to Lily or someone on the squad who usually gets that moment of on-screen closure. Last night’s ep worked much better with the sister seeing the victim before tossing her bonnet and setting off on her own rumspringa.

• My one gripe with this episode would be that the final reveal of the murder was pretty lame. It just seemed kind of… I don’t know… anticlimatic I guess. Did anyone else feel that way?

• Oh, a second gripe: the rapist got away with rape in this ep. I know they kind of downplayed it, but he was never punished — and that ticked me off.
